Perhaps a cold period or 16 hours of day-length will overcome this difficulty. Grows slowly in the Northern range. Seed shell will split open prior to germination in cold or occasionally warm stratification. KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR SEEDS IN STRATIFICATION. If germination starts in warm stratification put immediately into cold stratification for a minimum of 30 days then sow. When more then 10-15% of the seed begins to splits their shells in cold stratification you may sow the seed at once outside in the Spring or in a greenhouse.
Germination info: Seed requires 60 days warm moist stratification followed by 90 days cold moist stratification. Seed germinates best in the presence of light
